All dancers will be classified according to the German TSO or the national equivalent according to regulations between the DTV and other country dancesport federal organizations. For all rules below, always the highest classification applies.
Rules for participation in Breitensport / Open tournament
Active or former dancers with a tournament licence of class B or higher have to dance the Open tournament in both sections.
Active or former dancers with a tournament licence of lower classes have to dance the open tournament in the section of their license but are allowed to dance the Breitensport tournament in the other section, in case they do not or had not owned a tournament licence in the other section.
A 'Breitensportpass' (aka 'Startkarte') does not count as a starting licence within our rules.
Active or former dancers of formation teams participating in tournament modes are classified like dancers of §3 in case they have a licence for a league not being the lowest league of the refering tournament mode. Dancers of the lowest leagues are allowed to dance the Breitensport tournament.
Dancers that had been qualified three times or more for the final of the highest Breitensport class of an ETDS have to dance the open tournament in that section.
Dancers of the Breitensport tournament are only allowed to participate in the open tournament in case gender partners are missing in the open tournament for the same section.
Partners dancing the other gender role are classified one class lower than their highest active or former tournament license according to the rules above.
In case of a violation between the actual classification of a dancer and his/her participation in a tournament the chairman is entitled to exclude the couple from starting (before start of tournament) or repectively to disqualify the couple immediately. An excluded couple will not be counted for the Tanzmaus evaluation but a disqualified couple will be evaluated with zero points. The chairmans decision is final and cannot be appealed.
It is the teamcaptains responsibility to register dancers only for tournaments for which they apply according to the rules above.
